FAQ
How does a cycling tour with Girolibero work?
Book with us and enjoy cycling without luggage while we transport your bags. We are available seven days a week, so all you have to do is enjoy discovering the route. For self-guided tours, we provide maps, route descriptions, and other information before you start. If you choose a group tour, a guide will accompany you.
How do I prepare for a cycling holiday?
You don’t need to be a trained cyclist to go on a Girolibero bike tour, but you do need to be used to cycling. Before setting off, we recommend taking a few short rides near your home to get used to the rhythm of pedaling and the saddle. Bring comfortable clothing, sports shoes, and a water bottle: we’ll provide the rest, from luggage transport to assistance along the route. And if you choose an electric bike, even the climbs will be a breeze! We invite you to check the level of the trip to see if you need a little more specific preparation.
What are the best destinations for a first cycling trip?
There are the classic destinations that you fall in love with at first sight: the Danube Cycle Path, the Loire Valley, the endless cycle paths of the Netherlands, the green Moselle, and bike and boat trips in Provence and Camargue, as well as loops from Amsterdam. All of these routes are well-marked, flat, and full of amenities.
How many kilometres do you cycle each day?
Easy tours cover an average of 30 to 45 kilometers per day on flat routes. There are optional extra routes, as well as shortcuts by train or boat. More experienced cyclists can opt for more challenging tours, with itineraries on hilly and mountainous roads with climbs. Learn more about the different levels here.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes, you can bring your bike on most tours. Be sure to have it thoroughly checked before you leave.
What kind of bike can I rent?
We have touring bikes, e-bikes, children’s bikes, and tandems available. For younger children, you can also rent bike trailers, child seats, or trailers. Please visit the “Bikes and Accessories” section on the trip page to view the available bikes and accessories to choose from.
What kind of assistance will I receive during the trip?
During the trip, you will have all the necessary information to cycle with complete peace of mind while we handle your luggage transport. If anything unexpected happens, Girolibero assistance is available to help.
What if I'm tired and can't cycle?
On self-guided tours, you can cycle at your own pace and decide how to distribute your daily kilometers. You can take breaks whenever you need to. For certain trips, please check the details for each specific journey, as it might be possible to shorten the distance by taking the train. For bike and boat trips, if you don’t wish to cycle, you have the option to remain on board until the next stage.
How do I follow the route?
If you opt for a self-guided tour, we will provide all the necessary information, maps and route descriptions so you can cycle worry-free. If you select a group tour, you will cycle with a guide.
Can children or families participate?
Of course! These trips average 35 kilometers per day and include short stages, bike paths away from traffic, and bike and accessory rentals for children. There are also plenty of fun opportunities during your stops, such as museums, castles, playgrounds, and farms. Discover all the cycling tours for families.
Bikes
You can rent the bike type that suits you best. You will find it at the starting point of the tour and you have to return it at the end of the last cycling stage: easy, isn’t it? Touring bikes, electric bikes, tandems, accessories: our mechanics know them down to the last bolt, assemble them and continually overhaul them at our headquarters or at the nearest base of operations. The rental of Girolibero bikes includes insurance against theft and irreparable damage. See Girolibero bikes in detail.
