Have you ever tried a bike and barge tour?

Cycle during the day and sleep in a comfortable cabin, yours for the week: you don’t have to repack every night, and if you don’t want to pedal one day… you can stay on board! Learn more about bike and barge tours.

Itineraries for all

We offer tours with completely flat routes and short stages, and others that are longer and more hilly, sometimes including more challenging climbs. In designating the level of each trip, we also consider the possibility of skipping or shortening the stages, to give you the option of an easier day.

For self-guided tours, we provide maps, route descriptions, and other information before you start. If you choose a group tour, a guide will accompany you.

You don’t need to be a trained cyclist to go on a Girolibero bike tour, but you do need to be used to cycling. Before setting off, we recommend taking a few short rides near your home to get used to the rhythm of pedaling and the saddle. Bring comfortable clothing, sports shoes, and a water bottle: we’ll provide the rest, from luggage transport to assistance along the route. And if you choose an electric bike, even the climbs will be a breeze! We invite you to check the level of the trip to see if you need a little more specific preparation.

There are the classic destinations that you fall in love with at first sight: the Danube Cycle Path, the Loire Valley, the endless cycle paths of the Netherlands, the green Moselle, and bike and boat trips in Provence and Camargue, as well as loops from Amsterdam. All of these routes are well-marked, flat, and full of amenities.

Easy tours cover an average of 30 to 45 kilometers per day on flat routes. There are optional extra routes, as well as shortcuts by train or boat. More experienced cyclists can opt for more challenging tours, with itineraries on hilly and mountainous roads with climbs. Learn more about the different levels here.

Yes, you can bring your bike on most tours. Be sure to have it thoroughly checked before you leave.

We have touring bikes, e-bikes, children’s bikes, and tandems available. For younger children, you can also rent bike trailers, child seats, or trailers. Please visit the “Bikes and Accessories” section on the trip page to view the available bikes and accessories to choose from.

On self-guided tours, you can cycle at your own pace and decide how to distribute your daily kilometers. You can take breaks whenever you need to. For certain trips, please check the details for each specific journey, as it might be possible to shorten the distance by taking the train. For bike and boat trips, if you don’t wish to cycle, you have the option to remain on board until the next stage.

If you opt for a self-guided tour, we will provide all the necessary information, maps and route descriptions so you can cycle worry-free. If you select a group tour, you will cycle with a guide.
