Sustainability
In brief
What sustainability means to us
We use the term ‘sustainability’ thoughtfully, as we believe it is a topic that should be backed by real, measurable actions, not just good intentions. We’re committed to promoting responsible tourism that genuinely benefits destinations and local communities while protecting the environment. Since we recognize that tourism has a significant social, economic, and environmental impact, we practice what we preach through the sustainable habits we embrace in our own office daily.
Our journey with Travelife
At the beginning of 2025, we started working with Travelife to measure and report on our sustainability efforts.
With their support, we were able to identify our strengths and weaknesses, and we have set improvement goals to make our work and the tourism sector more sustainable.
This international certification system for sustainability in the tourism sector helped us define a list of targeted goals. We started off by analysing our initial situation to then monitor our progress step by step from there. Travelife’s involvement has enabled us to reflect on, communicate about, and improve our sustainability-related actions, making a positive impact both inside and outside the company.
Travelife Partner
In October 2025, we achieved our first success by receiving the Travelife Partner status. This award is a recognition of our commitment towards social and environmental sustainability. We comply with more than 100 criteria related to sustainability management, office operations, working with suppliers and customer communication. We are working towards further improvements aiming to eventually reach the Travelife Certified stage.
Sustainability at Girolibero
Our mission
Our mission is to promote a sustainable society and commerce by supporting all stakeholders in enhancing their awareness of sustainability. We aim to achieve this by minimizing and mitigating negative impacts on the natural environment, while actively contributing to our local community and society as a whole.
We offer active holidays, allowing our travelers to discover new places slowly, authentically, and respectfully. We plan each itinerary with care, transparency, and attention to detail, choosing solutions that enhance local communities and protect the environment.
On our tours
Each trip is designed and organised in line with the following core values:
- showing respect for nature, culture and the traditions of the host communities that welcome us
- promoting responsible tourism and sustainable mobility
- taking social responsibility and maintaining the quality of your travel experience
- collaborating with local suppliers to promote a fair and sustainable economy
- paying special attention to detail, from your planning process to the destinations we thoughtfully select
- guaranteeing fair and respectful working conditions for our team and local partners
At our headquarters
We have also adopted a series of sustainable habits in our daily operations:
- we reduce electricity use and water consumption
- we pay attention to our people, and maintain a healthy and balanced work environment
- we encourage research and collaboration with suppliers whose values align with ours
- we communicate transparently on our website, with our partners, and with our travelers
- our office is located close to the city centre, so that our employees and guests can easily reach us by public transport. Many of our team members have said this has kept them from buying a second car for their family
- we rely on solar panels for energy production
- we encourage car sharing among employees
- we have formed a solidarity purchasing group within the company. This means we buy things like fruit, vegetables, olive oil, etc… from a small local producer
- we share as much information as possible digitally
In every detail
Every decision related to the supply chain of a trip is significant, even the smallest ones, such as selecting a saddle. For our Original bike tours, all the bikes are equipped with saddles from Selle Royal Group, a company based in Vicenza, like us. Selle Royal Group is ISCC+ (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certified, which means it has received international recognition for the traceability and sustainability of its raw materials throughout the supply chain. Together, we can make a difference!
Our sustainability policy
At Girolibero, we see this policy as a compass that applies to everyone: from our internal management to our staff, suppliers and partners. We are committed to improving our sustainability practices, by continuing to monitor and evaluate our sustainability policy. Our dedicated staff and the resources we already have in place will help us achieve our sustainability goals.
