TO KNOW
A family cycling vacation packed and ready for you
We take care of every organisational aspect of your trip: hotels, luggage transport, bike rental, the information materials you need to follow the route, and assistance along the way.
An average of 35 km a day to ride leisurely on bike paths and roads away from traffic, with plenty of opportunities for a break: villages, museums, castles, as well as playgrounds, adventure parks, beaches, and farms. By staying in family rooms, children and teens pay less. A great idea for a family adventure, isn’t it?
Where do you want to ride?
Our family cycling tours cover some of Europe’s most rewarding destinations for kids and adults alike. You can explore the gentle hills and art towns of the Veneto, pedal through the fairy-tale châteaux of the Loire Valley, or enjoy the flat and scenic cycle paths around Lake Garda. Greece and Croatia are ideal for a bike and barge holiday with younger children. All our family routes are handpicked for their safety, scenery and variety of things to see and do along the way.
Bikes and accessories for the whole family
Whatever the age of your little ones, we have the right set-up for them. Depending on the tour, children from 6 years old can ride their own bike (20″ or 24″), while younger kids can join in with a child trailer, a rear seat or a FollowMe tandem. Older children and teens can also opt for a family tandem. All bikes are assembled and maintained by our own mechanics, and rental includes insurance against theft and damage.

FAQs
How does a family bike tour with Girolibero work?
Our promise to those who travel with us is this: cycle easy, travel light. These words capture the essence of what we do. Choose your favourite cycling holiday and leave the rest to us: itinerary, handpicked accommodation, luggage transfer between stops and multilingual dedicated assistance. If you choose a self-guided cycling tour, you follow the stages at your own pace with route maps; if you join a group tour, just follow your guide.
Which are the best cycling routes for families in Italy?
Easy routes for all the family include those around Lake Garda, starting from Salò and passing through Bardolino, Lazise and Sirmione. Other beautiful and accessible routes can be found in the Euganean Hills Natural Park, in the spa area, and along the Adige bike path between Merano and Bolzano. In Umbria, you can cycle through a fairy-tale landscape from Assisi to Spoleto.
From what age can you start cycling with children?
Practically any age. We rent child trailers that can carry children from the age of eleven months, and older children can stay in the rear seat. Those who ride can choose between tandems or children’s bikes.
Can I rent bikes and accessories for children?
Yes, of course. With our trips, you can always rent bikes and accessories for all ages. And there are electric bikes for mums and dads too.
How do I follow the route?
On self-guided bike tours, we provide everything you need to find your way: detailed maps and route descriptions, in printed or digital format depending on the trip. Some trips also include the Ride with GPS app, with GPS tracks and route content, available offline too. On guided group tours, your guide takes care of everything — you just follow along.
How does the luggage transfer work?
Every morning you leave your luggage at the reception desk and we take care of transporting it to your next accommodation. We will provide you with luggage labels and drop-off times. During the day, you can carry your essentials in the side bag provided with your rental bike. The service is always included in the price. Cycling light makes all the difference.
What kind of accommodation do you provide?
Accommodation varies depending on the trip. It can range from hotels and guesthouses to B&Bs and private rooms, or even boats if you choose a bike and barge tour. We handpick every property with care, favouring those conveniently located along the route. Breakfast is always included. For full details, check the “Comfort” section on the trip page.
What is included in the price?
Every bike tour includes: handpicked accommodation with breakfast, luggage transfer, route materials and multilingual assistance. Depending on the trip, you can add extra services to your quote, such as bike rental, meals, extra nights and transfers.
Can I choose my own departure date?
Yes, and that’s one of the best things about self-guided tours. You pick the date that suits you, within the tour’s season (usually April to October). A few tours have fixed start days for logistical reasons — this is always flagged on the tour page.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it. A good policy should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation and cycling-specific incidents. Travel insurance is not included in the tour price and must be arranged independently before your trip.
How can I book?
It is simple: select your trip, get your quote, and book directly online by filling in the required details and paying a deposit by credit card or bank transfer. Within 3 working days we will send you a confirmation email or an update. If you have any questions or doubts, get in touch. We are available by phone or email.
