National Parks and Islands of Dalmatia

We invite you to spend a week on a ship cruising between the mainland and the islands. Good cuisine, an open minded crew and knowledgeable tour guides are expecting you. We visit two National Parks and the islands of Central Dalmatia, starting from Trogir. Highlights include UNESCO protected old town of Trogir, Primošten, Šibenik with its famous cathedral, Zadar, National Park Krka-waterfalls and Kornati Islands. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in our own special way.
  • Day by Day

    1. Trogir – Rogoznica
Individual arrival by car to Trogir or by plane to Split airport, which is about 3 mi./ 5 km from the harbour of Trogir. After checking in on the motor yacht (between 2 and 2.30 pm) departure around 3 pm. Enjoy the fresh breeze during the crossing to Rogoznica. Later in the afternoon there will be time to do the cycle fitting.

    2. Rogoznica – Skradin (13 miles/ 20 km)
In the morning we cycle from Rogoznica to Primošten. From there the boat takes us to the city of Šibenik to the spot where the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. After visiting the famous cathedral and the lovely old town we set off again. On the cruise we pass the lower course of the river Krka following the river bend until we reach Skradin. In the port of the village we spend our night.

    3. Skradin - Vodice (12 miles/ 20 km)
The magnificent port of Skradin is today’s starting point for our excursion by boat and on foot to the most famous part of the Krka National Park with its unique waterfalls. In the early afternoon our boat takes us to the harbor of Vodice, a well-known holiday town on the Dalmatian mainland. From here we mount the bicycles again for a round trip.

    4. Vodice - Dugi Otok (16 miles/30 km)
In the morning we cycle from Vodice to Murter Island that is connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. We pass the bridge and cycle along the water front, passing by two very old coastal villages, until we reach a small landing place from where the boat takes us on a cruise through the National Park Kornati, an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich aquatic realm. Our destination is the Nature Park Telašćica. In the evening a walk through the park leads us along the stunning cliffs of the island. The famous Silver Lake - known by movies of Winnetou - is also located in the Nature Park. Overnight stay on the Island of Dugi Otok.

    5. Dugi Otok – Zadar (16 miles/25 km)
After breakfast and a short crossing to Sali, today’s cycling tour leads us along a virtually traffic-free and panoramic road. We ride across the whole island. During the ride we’re treated to countless unforgettable vistas of the islands in the deep blue sea. We meet our ship for a crossing to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lanes of the lively old centre. 3,000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.

    6. Zadar – Island of Zlarin ( 21 miles/ 35 km)
During breakfast the boat crosses to the island of Ugljan at the channel of Zadar. Today we have a lot of time to explore both of the islands Ugljan and Pašman by bicycle. They have been connected by a bridge. We cycle along the East Coast, always with beautiful views to the mainland and the ocean. Afterwards our boat cruises to the coral island of Zlarin.

    7. Island of Zlarin – Island of Solta - Trogir (9 miles/(15 km)
In the morning our motor yacht takes us to the island of Šolta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of rosemary will follow us throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid day our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here we have enough time to visit the world cultural heritage old town. After dinner it is time to say good bye to crew and travel guides.

    8. Trogir.
After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Itinerary for barges Melody and Princeza Diana:

    2. Rogoznica –  Island Dugi Otok (27 km)
In the morning the boat takes us to Vodice. We go for our first cycle tour starting at the popular resort and soon we cross the bridge to the island of Murter. In Slanica, in the Northwest of the island the boat awaits us for the cross over to the island of Dugi Otok. On our way we pass the National Park Kornati - an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich underwater world. Our destination is the deeply incised Telašćica Bay. In the local nature park the Mir salt lake is situated. At the end of the day we take a short hike to the impressive cliffs before taking a short crossing by boat to the small seaside village of Sali for the night.

    3. Island Dugi Otok – Zadar (48 km)
We start our ride from Sali along the almost traffic free island of Dugi Otok. The ride is panorama pure and our destination is the budding village of Božava, surrounded by pine forests, Tamarisks and Agaves. In Božava the boat awaits our arrival and we cast off for Zadar which for centuries was the absolute political, cultural and intellectual center of Dalmatia. The guide takes us on a walk through the lively city and shows us the fascinating facets of this extraordinary outdoor museum. Over 3,000 years characterize the city. As we walk we will learn of the city and its colorful past. Overnight stay in Zadar.

    4. Zadar – Vodice (33 km)
During breakfast the boat takes us to Preko on the island of Ugljan from where we will ride to Tkon on the island of Pašman. The two islands are connected by a bridge from which the first of the Kornati Islands can be seen. We cycle along the east coast of the island, constantly in vicinity of the sea with views of the mainland. Once we arrive in Tkon, we board the boat and cross over to Vodice, a populare Dalmatian holiday destination on the mainland where we will spend the night.

    5. Vodice – Skradin (35 km)
A scenic tour leads us from Vodice along quiet roads through quiet villages of the Dalmatian hinterland to the beautiful city of Skradin at the foot of the Krka Canyon. In the afternoon your guides will invite you to sample some local specialities, of which there are plenty in Dalmatia. The night is spent in Skradin.

    6. Skradin – Šibenik – Primošten
After breakfast it is time to discover the unique naturally formed waterfalls of the national park of the Krka-Canyon. Afterwards the boat will take us to Šibenik out of the Krka river mouth and into the Adriatic. Here the Cathedral of St. Jacob is under UNESCO-World-Heritage protection and is regarded as the most magnificent sacral buildings on the Adriatic coast. The old town of Šibenik is bacons with its charm for a walk. In the late afternoon we cast off once more on board the boat and cruise to Primošten for the night.

    7. Primošten – Trogir (45 km)
In the morning our last bike tour for the week takes us from Primošten inland past rural villages to Trogir. Many magical views of the town and the island of Čiovo invite for short breaks and photo stops. In the afternoon we have the chance to stroll through the UNESCO world heritage city of Trogir. A cheerful evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travelers and tour guides.

    8. Trogir
Disembarkation after breakfast around  9 am and individual return home or extended stay in Croatia.

Due to organisational reasons, weather conditions or warnings issued by local authorities, the itinerary may be subject to some changes before and/or during the holiday. Issues with high and low water, as well as logistic obstacles such as officially ordered - previously not announced - repair work on locks or bridges can modify some of the daily stretches or overnight stays and may even request a transfer by bus. These decisions are only taken by the boat’s captain.

  • Route profile

The bike routes require a basic level of fitness, which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The routes can reach an altitude of 328 ft. to 985 ft./100 to 300 meters, 200 to 500 meters for the Deluxe tour. The daily routes of 9 to 22 mi./15 to 50 km cover hilly terrain and can be completed without time constraints. You will also come across some rather steep climbs, where walking your bike is of course permitted. Theroads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. You may decide yourself, whether you would like to cycle individually, using the maps provided, or join one of the tour guides.

      Departure 12-19 August 2017

      Online from 28 August 2017

Bellissimo tour, ben organizzato, ottima nave (Melody), cibo, guide, posti stupendi.

      Departure 12-19 August 2017

      Online from 28 August 2017
