IN BRIEF

Cycling and island hopping in Croatia

Croatia’s coastline is a stunning mix of bays and cliffs, dotted with thousands of small islands that sparkle in the clear blue water. Like Greece, Croatia is the ideal destination to explore with a bike and barge tour. Just inland, you’ll find romantic hills, national parks, and scenic waterfalls, breathtaking landscapes best explored by bike, with rewarding climbs and descents. But Croatia is more than just natural beauty. Its charming cities and UNESCO World Heritage sites are easily reachable by bicycle, adding cultural depth to your adventure. After each day’s ride, you can relax on board your boat and enjoy romantic sunsets waiting for you on deck.

To know

Bike and barge in Croatia, how it works

A cruise along the coast, with cycling by day and overnight stays in a floating hotel that follows you stage by stage. The cabin is yours for the whole week, so you don’t have to worry about packing and unpacking, and breakfasts and dinners are served on board, where you’ll be welcomed by the captain and crew. All that’s left to you is discovery of the area: Zadar, Dubrovnik, ancient Trogir, the Kornati Islands, Krka National Park, and much more, with refreshing swims in the blue sea after your rides!

Tours

The Gulf of Kvarner and its islands (2 tours)

The Kvarner Gulf is rich in historic islands. One of the best ways to visit them is to sail from port to port, enjoying the scenery and exploring each location by bike. Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Molat, Dugi Otok Pag, Rab: many pearls amidst the azure sea, with their medieval villages, picturesque bays, and Mediterranean vegetation. The allure of the sea is always there, as are the lovely evenings with friends aboard your floating hotel.

Dalmatia and its islands (4 tours)

Split and Dubrovnik are perhaps the most beautiful coastal resorts in Dalmatia. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as are the ancient cities of Trogir, Primosten, Sibenik and Zadar, as well as the fertile plain of Stari Grad on the island of Hvar. This region is a natural and historical treasure trove: from pristine national parks to more worldly city centers, easily visited by bicycle on the many programs we offer. And the sea is always there, embracing each place and making it more magical.

Themes

Multi-activity for families (1 tour)

A cruise with some pedaling and also many other activities. The boat welcomes you aboard in triple or quad cabins, with discounts for children and teens. The bike rides are short and the fun is guaranteed: each day is different, to be spent swimming, rafting, playing on the beach and visiting the most beautiful places on the Croatian coast.

FAQ

Our promise to those who travel with us is this: cycle easy, travel light. These words capture the essence of what we do. Choose your favourite bike and barge tour and leave the rest to us: itinerary, bike, barge, tour leader or maps to cycle independently, multilingual dedicated assistance. If you choose a self-guided cycling tour, you follow the stages at your own pace with route maps; if you join a group tour, just follow your guide.

Our bike and barge holidays in Croatia include both self-guided and group options. On a self-guided trip, you ride at your own pace with all the route materials you need — maps and stage descriptions included. On a group trip, a guide takes care of the rest.

In general, breakfast and dinner are served on board, while lunch is a packed lunch prepared with ingredients from the kitchen on board. As meal arrangements can vary by tour, we recommend checking the specific tour page for full details on what is and is not included.

Each trip page shows the route difficulty level. Bike tours in Croatia can be more hilly and mountainous, requiring a bit more fitness. But don’t worry — on days when you’d rather skip the ride, you can always stay on board and you can opt for an e-bike.

Sure. Solo travellers are welcome on bike and barge tours. A single cabin supplement applies, as cabins are normally priced for double occupancy.

Of course! If you don’t feel like cycling one day, you’re welcome to stay on board and enjoy the cruise.

It depends on the trip. Guest numbers range from 20 to over 40, depending on the boat. The average age tends to be between 50 and 80, though families with children and younger cyclists also join us in peak season. Each trip page includes a full description of the boat, including the maximum number of guests.

Every bike and barge tour includes: overnight on board, breakfast and other meals (depending on the tour), route materials or tour leader and multilingual assistance. Depending on the trip, you can add extra services to your quote, such as bike rental, meals, extra nights and transfers.

We strongly recommend it. A good policy should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation and cycling-specific incidents. Travel insurance is not included in the tour price and must be arranged independently before your trip.

We recommend booking as early as possible, as places on the barge are limited. Many of our most popular tours sell out months in advance. Last-minute availability does occasionally come up, so it is always worth checking.

It is simple: choose your trip, get your quote, and book directly online by filling in the required details and paying a deposit by credit card or bank transfer. Within 3 working days we will send you a confirmation email or an update. If you have any questions or doubts, get in touch. We are available by phone or email.

Assistance

The tour leader leads the way and is ready to solve any mishaps, but you will also have our number from Italy, which is available 7 days a week.
You will receive briefing materials with all the practical information, details on how to reach the meeting point, and answers to any questions you may have before you leave.
