In brief

Cycling holidays in the lands of Venice

Cycling through the Veneto region means pedalling across one of Italy’s most extraordinarily varied landscapes — from the foothills of the Dolomites to the shores of the Adriatic Sea. On two wheels, you’ll explore art cities like Venice, Verona, Vicenza and Padua, alongside the Prosecco hills, the Euganean Hills, the shores of Lake Garda, and the quiet waterways of the Po Delta. Routes suit all fitness levels, and the mostly flat terrain makes this one of the easiest regions in Italy for first-timers and families alike. It’s part of a wider selection of bike tours in Italy, each region with its own pace and character. Impossible not to fall in love.

TO KNOW

Routes between lakes, rivers, and the sea

Water is everywhere in Veneto, and every form of it is worth cycling beside. Italy’s largest lake — Lake Garda — sets the scene in the west, with jaw-dropping scenery and excellent local cuisine, and remains one of the most rewarding lake cycling routes in the country. Follow the rivers east: the Brenta, lined with Palladian villas, the Mincio through Mantua’s Renaissance streets, and the Po through its vast, bird-rich delta. From the Venice Lagoon, one of our tours continues all the way to Poreč, a charming port city on the Croatian coast. Forgotten villages, wild nature, and a glass of Prosecco along the way — this region rewards those who take their time.

Organized bike tours in Veneto

Hop on your bike, we take care of the rest. We book comfortable hotels and guesthouses, transport your luggage stage to stage, and have your rental bike ready and waiting at the start. Our self-guided bike tours let you ride at your own pace with all the logistics still taken care of.  We provide an app with maps, a roadbook, points of interest, GPS tracks, and a seven-day-a-week support service. One more thing worth knowing: Girolibero is based right in Vicenza, in the heart of the Veneto. Our bikes are assembled, maintained and fine-tuned by our own mechanics just a few kilometres from the routes you’ll be riding. This is genuinely our home territory.

Tours

Venice and surroundings

There’s far more to the Veneto than Venice itself — though the city alone would be worth the trip. Pedal out into the surrounding lands and you’ll discover the Prosecco hills, the Palladian villas of Vicenza, the medieval charm of Bassano del Grappa and Treviso, and quiet waterways that feel a world away from the tourist trail. For those who want to push further, one of our routes continues along the northern Adriatic coast all the way to Poreč, a charming walled port city on the Croatian coast.

Lake Garda

Starting from Peschiera del Garda on the southern shores of Italy’s largest lake, this route takes you on a journey east through some of the Veneto’s finest scenery. Verona, Vicenza, the thermal springs of the Euganean Hills, and finally Venice — all connected by quiet roads and dedicated cycle paths, at your own pace.

Venice from a different angle

Swap the saddle for a deck — at least part of the time. This bike and barge route follows the Mincio and Po rivers from Mantua to Venice, winding through the Po Delta and the Venice Lagoon at the unhurried pace these landscapes deserve. Off-the-beaten-track villages, wide skies, reed beds and river bends: a side of the Veneto that most visitors never see.

For families (3 tours)

The Veneto is one of Italy’s best regions for a family cycling holiday, with flat terrain and well-maintained cycle paths throughout. Base yourself in Galzignano Terme and explore the Euganean Hills, or head to Lake Garda for medieval castles, fairytale villages and stunning lakeside scenery. A region that keeps cyclists of all ages happily in the saddle!

FAQ

Our promise to those who travel with us is this: cycle easy, travel light. Choose your favourite cycling holiday and leave the rest to us: itinerary, handpicked accommodation, luggage transfer between stops and multilingual dedicated assistance. Our bike tours in Veneto are all self-guided, however, on the bike and barge tour you can choose to ride independently, or follow the tour leader.

The Veneto region is a great cycling destination from March through to October. Spring is particularly beautiful, with mild temperatures and the countryside in full bloom. Autumn brings golden light, harvest season, and the Prosecco hills at their most spectacular. July and August are warm but perfectly manageable, especially if you cycle with an -bike. In Veneto there are also a lot of interesting festivals worth seeing, like the Feast of the Redeemer (Redentore), check them out in this article.

Yes! Veneto is one of Italy’s most beginner-friendly cycling regions, with largely flat terrain, well-signed cycle paths and quiet country roads. We offer several routes specifically designed for families, with short daily stages, children’s bikes and family-friendly accommodation. If you’d like a little extra help on the hills, e-bikes are available on all our tours.

On self-guided bike tours, we provide everything you need to find your way: detailed maps and route descriptions, in printed or digital format depending on the trip. Some trips also include the Ride with GPS app, with GPS tracks and route content, available offline too. On guided group tours, your guide takes care of everything — you just follow along.

You can rent the bike that suits you best — it will be ready and waiting at your starting point. You can choose between an e-bike and a standard bike and, if you’re travelling with family, there are plenty of accessories for children of all ages, from child seats to bike trailers. On some trips you can also bring your own bicycle. Check the trip page for full details on available bikes and discover all about e-bikes.

Every morning you leave your luggage at the reception desk and we take care of transporting it to your next accommodation. We will provide you with luggage labels and drop-off times. During the day, you can carry your essentials in the side bag provided with your rental bike. The service is always included in the price. Cycling light makes all the difference.

Every bike tour includes: handpicked accommodation with breakfast, luggage transfer, route materials and multilingual assistance. Depending on the trip, you can add extra services to your quote, such as bike rental, meals, extra nights and transfers.

From the moment you book until you’re back home, we are here for any question or concern. On self-guided trips, it is good to be prepared for the small mechanical hiccups that come with cycling — that’s why we provide a full repair kit with everything you need to handle a flat tire on your own. For anything else, our support line is available 7 days a week, from 8 AM to 8 PM. One more thing worth knowing: Girolibero headquarter is based right in Vicenza, in the heart of the Veneto. Our bikes are assembled, maintained and fine-tuned by our own mechanics just a few kilometres from the routes you’ll be riding. This is genuinely our home territory.

We strongly recommend it. A good policy should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation and cycling-specific incidents. Travel insurance is not included in the tour price and must be arranged independently before your trip.

It is simple: choose your trip, get your quote, and book directly online by filling in the required details and paying a deposit by credit card or bank transfer. Within 3 working days we will send you a confirmation email or an update. If you have any questions or doubts, get in touch. We are available by phone or email.
