IN BRIEF
E-bike holidays, cycling made easy
Too many miles, too steep, or too hot to cycle? The solution is simple: go for an e-bike. You can ride many miles in a day and tackle longer climbs, even if you don’t pedal on the daily. Plus, you’ll barely break a sweat on hot summer days — but you’ll still feel that cool breeze in your hair. There’s always a way to make your holiday more fun.
Why choose an e-bike cycling holiday?
An e-bike holiday means more freedom, more distance, and far less effort on the hills. With electric assistance doing the hard work, you can ride further than you thought possible, discover landscapes off the beaten track, and arrive at each stop with energy to spare — no matter your fitness level. Think rolling Tuscan countryside, the gentle plains of the Veneto, or the stunning coastal roads of Croatia: routes that are beautiful to ride and even better when you’re not out of breath at the top.
To know
Pedal-assisted bicycle, how it works
With Girolibero, an e-bike is available on almost all of our tours — so whatever route you choose, chances are you can ride it with electric assistance. Simply adjust the motor to your liking, from a gentle pedalling support on flat stretches to a more powerful boost for climbs and long days in the saddle. The battery easily lasts a full day of riding, and recharging is never a worry: all our accommodations are e-bike friendly, so you can plug in at the end of each stage and set off the next morning fully charged. As with everything on a Girolibero holiday, we take care of the details — so you can focus on the ride.
Tours
Go the extra mile
… without even trying! Our e-bikes allow you to tackle more challenging routes with daily stages of over 50 km, even if you’re not a frequent cycler. Simply choose your journey and e-bike, and enjoy the ride with us.
Up, up, up!
Enjoying the beauty of getting to the top of a hill and contemplating the scenery from up there shouldn’t feel like a task; you’re on vacation, after all! Tackle the ups and downs of your route effortlessly with your e-bike, so there’s no reason to miss out on the beautiful views.
Chasing the sun
No need to fear hot days; the pedal assist won’t make you feel the strain or the sweat rolling down your back. Getting outdoors to get some movement in and summer can be a perfect match with the right bike.
Wind at your back
An e-bike is your partner in crime to face the mistral, the north wind, and the currents along the sea. Strong winds turn into a light breeze, so all you have to think about is experiencing the adventure!
FAQ
How does an e-bike tour with Girolibero work?
Our promise to those who travel with us is this: cycle easy, travel light. These words capture the essence of what we do. Choose your favourite cycling holiday and leave the rest to us: itinerary, handpicked accommodation, luggage transfer between stops and multilingual dedicated assistance. If you choose a self-guided cycling tour, you follow the stages at your own pace with route maps; if you join a group tour, just follow your guide.
Are the tours guided or self-guided?
Our cycling holidays include both self-guided and group options. On a self-guided trip, you ride at your own pace with all the route materials you need — maps and stage descriptions included. On a group trip, a guide takes care of everything.
How far can you ride on an e-bike?
On a full charge, the battery is designed to last a full day’s stage — so you can ride without worrying about running out of power mid-route. That said, battery life depends on how much assistance you use, the terrain, and your riding style. For tips on how to make the most of your battery, check out our guide about e-bikes.
How do you charge the battery?
Easy — just plug it in at your hotel at the end of each stage. All Girolibero accommodations are e-bike friendly, so charging points are always available.
Is an e-bike easy to ride?
Absolutely. If you can ride a regular bike, you can ride an e-bike. The motor kicks in as you pedal, giving you a smooth and natural boost — you’re always in control of how much assistance you want. It takes just a few minutes to get comfortable, and most riders wonder why they didn’t switch sooner!
Where is an e-bike holiday most rewarding?
An e-bike is a great choice on any Girolibero tour, but certain destinations make it an easy decision. The rolling hills of Puglia, the island roads of Croatia, the sun-drenched landscapes of Provence — these are routes made for riding at your own pace, without the heat or the climbs ever getting in the way.
How does the luggage transfer work?
Every morning you leave your luggage at the reception desk and we take care of transporting it to your next accommodation. We will provide you with luggage labels and drop-off times. During the day, you can carry your essentials in the side bag provided with your rental bike. The service is always included in the price. Cycling light makes all the difference.
If you choose a bike and barge tour, your luggage stays on board.
What kind of accommodation do you provide?
Accommodation varies depending on the trip. It can range from hotels and guesthouses to B&Bs and private rooms, or even boats if you choose a bike and barge tour. We handpick every property with care, favouring those conveniently located along the route. Breakfast is always included. For full details, check the “Comfort” section on the trip page.
What is included in the price of your bike tours?
Every bike tour includes: handpicked accommodation with breakfast, luggage transfer, route materials and multilingual assistance. Depending on the trip, you can add extra services to your quote, such as bike rental, meals, extra nights and transfers.
What kind of support do you provide during the trip?
From the moment you book until you’re back home, we’ve got you covered. On self-guided trips, it is good to be prepared for the small mechanical hiccups that come with cycling — that’s why we provide a full repair kit with everything you need to handle a flat tire on your own. For anything else, our support line is available 7 days a week, from 8 AM to 8 PM. If your trip is run in partnership with a local operator, we will give you their direct contact too, so you can sort things out on the ground without going through us.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it. A good policy should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation and cycling-specific incidents. Travel insurance is not included in the tour price and must be arranged independently before your trip.
How can I book?
It is simple: choose your trip, get your quote, and book directly online by filling in the required details and paying a deposit by credit card or bank transfer. Within 3 working days we will send you a confirmation email or an update. If you have any questions or doubts, get in touch. We are available by phone or email.
